Simple diets that work
When looking for a new diet, keep in mind that the more complex the diet is, the more difficult it can be to follow. If you are constantly counting calories, referencing a diet chart, or keeping track of your eating schedule chances are you will get weary with all of the record keeping. Keep your diet plan simple and conceptual.
One way (this is not a new diet) to help whatever diet plan you are following is to “mix up” your eating. Get out of the eating pattern you are in, by purposely altering the foods you have for breakfast lunch and dinner. Don’t bother with counting calories (be sensible though,) just “mix” things up a little. Your brain is like a data log that can anticipate what you will “typically” eat next, and therefore knows its response to what you are going to eat. By constantly changing what you eat, you can confuse your metabolism which will cause the brain to release different hormones that cause your body to either burn or store fat. Confusing your response can put your metabolism into overdrive, especially if you begin to introduce high fiber and complex carbohydrate foods (whole foods) that you don’t normally consume as part of your eating pattern.
So, there are simple diets out there. As I have stated elsewhere in these posts, losing weight diets should be more of a change in your attitude toward foods rather than a regimen that is followed. Of course to accomplish your weight loss goals, it takes a balanced combination of desire and discipline. Keep a photo of your lean self on the refrigerator like I do (this keeps the motivation high) and look at it often. We are amazing creatures, and once we change the way we think about something, its amazing what we can accomplish. I’m reminded of a cute little story of a farmer sitting on his porch. A neighbor stopped by, and asked why he didn’t do something about his poor dog that was lying next to him howling up a storm. The farmer simply replied: “He’s lying on a little rock, and when it bothers him bad enough he’ll get up and move.” We humans are kind of like the howling dog. When we finally get tired of whats been hampering our lives for so long, we “get up and move.” Happy dieting!
