Diets That Work
Without question the subject of dieting is one of the most written about topics. It seems like “diet doctors” publish new books every week. One week, findings will support the premise that if we increase our protein intake, we will begin to magically shed pounds. The next week, another journal will suggest that sugars are the culprit, then carbs, then lack of sleep, lack of water, and so on. The reality is that there is no “one size fits all” when it comes to diets that work. Diet plans that work for one group of people may have no effect (or even opposite) for another group. Oftentimes it requires a combination of diets to get the results you are after. Therefore it becomes imperative to find the diets that work for you.
By the time I was 40 I had tried so many different ways to lose weight, but with limited (or short term) success. Until, I came across a diet plan that was more of a conceptual approach to losing weight than anything else. The premise was quite simple: eat whole foods, and keep your fat intake to 10% of your daily calories by eliminating (or at least minimizing) animal products. I decided to give it a try.
Since there was no restriction at all on the amount of food I could eat, I literally ate all day long. I kept a small hand held cooler with me, and would consume whole foods (primarily vegetables and fruits) throughout the day. Before leaving to work, I would prepare some sliced cucumbers in vinegar, low fat tortillas, and perhaps some fish or chicken. Because I was constantly eating, I never became very hungry at any one time. Additionally, by eating whole foods (potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, etc,) I would get full before consuming too many calories. When I started to get slightly hungry, I would simply grab one of my healthy snacks and eat it.
There was no counting calories, timing my meals, or anything of that nature. As I mentioned earlier, the diet plan was more of a concept than anything else. I didn’t have the problem of hunger because I was always eating, so I decided to stay with it for thirty days to see what happened. By eating all day long, I dropped 23 pounds in 30 days. I could not believe it. Not only did the pounds drop off, my body was in overdrive as far as energy levels. I no longer have to search for diets that work. Diet plans that work consist of the concept of consuming raw foods or cooked foods that are in their “whole” state. Add to that the limiting of animal fats, and you have a weight loss program that is easy to follow and boosts your energy levels.
