The term “super foods” has been highly publicized and has caused many individuals to wonder if they truly exist. We have done some research and here are our findings for diets that work: 1) Green Food – Foods that contain lots of nutrients, wheat grass and barley grass are excellent examples of this. Among the health advantages supplied by these young grasses is that they will lower your cholesterol and blood pressure, boost your immune system, and protect you against cancer. Another advantage to these green foods is that they are rich in chlorophyll, an ingredient that reduces internal odors and fights off ailments. If you have trouble with bad breath, these young grasses will decrease this problem. You may choose to consume these green foods in pill form, which can be purchased at a health food store, or you may decided to juice them yourself. 2) Hot Peppers – chili peppers contain large amounts of anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer elements which will reduce pain as well as prevent heart disease. Hot peppers contain double the amount of anti-oxidants and vitamin C that is found in citrus fruits. Adding these peppers to any meal will ensure that you are taking steps to maintain good health. 3) Beans and lentils – Because of their health benefits, these foods are commonly added to many dishes throughout the world. Their low fat, high fiber make-up, which gradually enters the blood stream, makes them extremely appropriate foods for people altering their diets because of diabetes. You will be quite pleased to learn that these foods also contain anti-aging properties – now these are diets that work.. Beans and lentils provide a full feeling for a longer period of time, and give you an added energy boost. You should be consuming 1/4 – 1/2 cup of these beans or lentils at each meal. 4) Nuts and seeds – Would you like to avoid feeling hungry while you are attempting to lose weight? These foods can decrease wrinkles and sagging skin. Grabbing some nuts when hunger is overtaking you, will help you to fell full and satisfied, while offering a healthy eating option. Nuts and seeds are great when grated on your cereal, sprinkled on your salad, or, of course to just eat whole, the choices available with these foods are many. 5) The family of alum – Scallions, onions, garlic, leeks, shallots, and chives, are all members of this family of foods. These foods act to remove toxins and carcinogens from your system, provide protection for the liver as an antioxidant, and ward off cancer. When consuming this type of food, it is recommended that they be eaten raw. They will also increase your good cholesterol, and lower bad cholesterol as well as blood pressure. 6) Acai – You will find in this little red berry, the greatest amount of energy producing power you will find anywhere, all from this tiny food from an Amazon palm tree. Many health food stores carry acai in juice form and you will find that the taste resembles that of a mixture of chocolate and berries. The most beneficial way to consume this berry is in pulp form, but finding it this way may be challenging. The acai berry is the best choice for a food to provide health advantages. 7) Yogurt – It is widely believed that yogurt contains the most beneficial ingredients for your health. Many generations of individuals have improved their health through the consumption of these fermented and cultured milk products. The fact that these foods have stood the test of time is a good indication that they deserve to be considered as effective foods to provide health benefits. With their ability to ward off infectious conditions through their pro-biotic properties, they can be very helpful in your quest for healthful foods.

Of course, diets that work usually require exercise, discipline, and consistency. While there may be some “super foods” out there, don’t overlook the fundamentals. Hopefully this is of some help.
